A FAMILY HOTEL FULL OF SUSTAINABILITY.

Growing and regrowing: sustainability comes naturally to us

Anyone who grows up in the countryside and in the mountains and loves farming, as we do, has a special connection to nature and wants to preserve its beauty for future generations. That's why sustainability is a top priority for us. Because it is simply important to us to live, work and grow in harmony with nature – and to think long-term.

SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL AND HOLIDAY.

We are delighted that sustainability is playing an increasingly important role for you as our guests. By treating resources, the environment and the planet responsibly, together we are making an important contribution to the future of our children. For us, a sustainable holiday means much more than a photovoltaic system on the roof – it is deeply rooted in all areas of our hotel.

PUREST WATER FROM OUR OWN MOUNTAIN SPRING.

Our drinking water is the purest Gailtal mountain spring water. We use it wherever high-quality water is needed – for drinking, bathing, showering and splashing around. Wherever we can save water, we do so. And for watering our gardens, lawns, shrubs, flowers and herbs, we use overflow water from the rainwater reservoirs above our hotel.

SUSTAINABLE LAUNDRY.

We wash work clothes, table linen, crockery and towels, bed linen and other items in-house using a new, gentle washing process that guarantees maximum hygienic cleanliness at just 60 °C. On the one hand, this saves on transport routes, fuel and lots of CO2. On the other hand, we save a good 25% on electrical energy and at the same time extend the life of the fabrics by up to 5 years.

HEATING AND HOT WATER WITH WOOD CHIPS AND SUN.

Our heating is provided by a CO2-neutral wood chip heating system that burns regional wood chips. And because we need quite a lot of hot water for the pools, wellness centre, suites and rooms, kitchen and economy, we have added a solar system. This provides environmentally friendly hot water, especially in summer and during the transitional period.

HOME-GROWN HERBS, BERRIES, FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

Our kitchen and garden are inseparable. We grow a proportion of the food we use in our kitchen ourselves. There are fragrant herbs from Ramsi's herb garden, fresh raspberries and blackberries from the berry garden, brightly coloured pumpkins from the vegetable garden and juicy apples and pears from the orchard, which is home to over 120 regular trees.

ORGANIC WASTE, COMPOST, AND FERTILISER FROM THE STABLES.

Not only do we process the ingredients and fruit from the garden ourselves, but we also return our organic waste from the kitchen back to nature. This waste is put into our own compost heap, where it is transformed into high-quality, fertile soil – and ends up back in the garden. We use the manure from the stables on the Ramsi farm as a natural fertiliser for our plants.

SUSTAINABLE HOLIDAYS IN HARMONY WITH NATURE.

PV SYSTEM, CHARGING STATIONS AND E-CAR RENTAL.

With us you can refuel with home-made solar power

Our new PV system produces around 300,000 kWh of sustainable solar power every year, which we use in the hotel and for electromobility. You can charge your own e-cars and e-bikes at our two charging stations. And if you are planning to arrive by train, you can borrow our Ramsi e-car via the FReD car-sharing platform.

HONOURED WITH THE KWF SUSTAINABILITY AWARD.

We were honoured with the sustainability award of the Carinthian Economic Development Fund, KWF.nachhaltig 2020 – which made us immensely happy. The topic at the time was: "Ways out of the crisis – innovations for resilience and sustainability in tourism". Our project was: Crowdfunding our new panoramic indoor pool with the help of our regular guests.
